50 Sketches and More Research – Arielle Mohr – WK04 PPJ

This week I focused heavily on sketching interactions. Instead of focusing on concrete interactions I tried to be more broad and rough this week with my sketches to leave room for creativity. Since we aren’t still sure on the content, nothing is finalized so I figured may as well leave all options open at this point with my sketches. I did a total of 50 sketches of possible interactions. When we met on Sunday night to discuss some of these interactions, we highlighted which ones stood out to us. Some of my sketches that stood out included a “quiz” to help users decide which charity or non-profit they may be interested in based on their interests. Another was incorporating physical objects with digital, such as “pouring” a tea pot and simulating tea being poured on a digital screen. Another idea we had was “spilling” a bowl on to the digital table to reveal more information about a certain recipe etc.

I found some interesting research on ways users interact with physical objects in a digital space. Some things to keep in mind that came up in my research are the angles in which the objects are viewed and clearly indicating to the user that they are supposed to interact with this object and the ways in which they should interact with this object.  Since I was just assigned this interaction, I have not yet had the chance to delve deeper into it yet but that is my plan for this upcoming week.
